Games have been easy to pirate for decades now; the methods have changed, but the act has remained the same. It's a problem, don't get me wrong, but it's not the only problem.<br/><br/>I'd like to think people don't make PC games anymore because maintaining a gaming-capable PC is financially growing out of control, and thus, less people buy PC software. It's (usually) cheaper to buy a gaming console every five to six years. The sales of Crysis say it all, to me.<br/><br/>On the opposite end of the spectrum, look at World of Warcraft. The game was specifically designed to run on older hardware so you wouldn't have to spend $300 on the latest GeForce 15000GTXYZ and another gig of RAM in order to run it. And it <i>exploded</i> in popularity.<br/><br/>And Counter-Strike 1.6 has always performed better than Counter-Strike: Source in terms of number of players. <br/><br/>Rather than surfing the bleeding edge of technology, I think PC developers need to take a step back and force themselves to slow down a bit.
