Over the weekend, I jumped on the interwebs really quick to check some emails, and was sent this beauty.
A die-hard Call of Duty fan has showed the ultimate tribute to the series by getting part of the cover art tattooed onto his arm. Quite an impressive piece of inking if I do say so myself.
I’ve since attempted to touch base with the loyal fan who bears the COD mark, but haven’t heard back. I figured the least we could do is hook the guy up with some swag!
Anyone else have any Call of Duty related artwork, tats, or other goodies? Feel free to send them my way, I always love to see em’!

I Have A Pre-Launch Wii!I was given the opportunity to get my hands on a Wii before its official Nov. 19th launch in the US.Of course, as hyped as I am for the Wii, I quickly jumped at the chance and accepted.I don’t have it just yet, but it is being shipped and will arrive well before Nov. 19th.The nice little bundle coming my way includes:Nintendo Wii Game ConsoleWireless ControllerWiiSportsI can not tell you how hyped I am to get my hands on this baby!First order of business, is to get it online and delve into the old school goodness that is NES Emulation!
Super Mario BrothersSuper Mario WorldSuper Mario 64The Legend Of ZeldaMetroidAll set to be downloaded into my Wii Channel. Nintendo introduces a great user interface for all your Wii needs.Surf the InternetPlay classic NES, SNES, and N64 gamesCreate an ingame avatar with Mii ChannelCheck news, weather, and more.Create, share, and view photo galleries and slideshows. And so much more with Wii Channel. However, the most use of Wii Channel for me, will be of course the Emulation channels.I plan on spending countless hours playing through all my favorite NES classics, as well as the golden N64 era games.I honestly can’t wait for this!!!!!
I was able to get a little hands on time with the Wii as this years E3 Expo, as well as a bit more with Call of Duty 3, but I’m anxious to check out the bundled software WiiSports that comes with the console.Basically a collection of Sports games that take full advantage of the innovative motion censor controller remote of the Wii.This is really what Nintendo is all about. The fun, laid back, completely silly gaming that we grew up with.Leave the serious hardcore gaming to PC, Xbox 360, and whatever Sony is doing, and let Nintendo control the Fun!I can’t wait to invite the crew over, gather around the television, and hammer out a game of table tennis, baseball, or golf right on the living room floor! Oh the embarrassing photos and moments to be had!
Speaking of the Wii-mote. Okay okay.. its the Wii Remote, but Wii-mote sounds so much cooler. This wireless gem comes with the console I’m getting and is one hell of an innovation.I admit. At first, I was extremely skeptical about this idea. When Nintendo first unveiled the Wii Remote and Nunchuk the entire gaming world was in shock! What is this crazy thing! What am I suppose to do with a wand?!Well Nintendo showed us, after getting some alone time with the beauty, I saw the genius behind it.Not all games require or make use of the nunchuk attachment, but some do, such as:
I won’t just be enjoying the classic dungeon adventures of The Legend of Zelda, but the Wii is adding a new twist to my favorite video game character of all time, closely matched with Mario, with a new installment of the Zelda series; The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Sadly, the Gamecube was a sore disappointment to me, and I avoided it like the black death. With that, meant I missed out on all recent installments to the Zelda franchise [not that any looked to appealing] To me, the last great Zelda adventure was the Ocarina of Time. So as you can imagine, I have a craving for some new puzzles, new bosses, and new Link action! The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is taking full advantage of the Wii’s innovations, including the motion censor remote and nunchuk.Slash the remote to slash your sword.Aim the remote, and pull the nunchuk back to shoot an arrow.Hear the noise of the arrow being pulled back, released, and the sound travel from your remote to the television as it hits!Talk about immersive gameplay! Its going to take a bit of getting use to, but I think this is just another layer on top of the magic that is The Legend of Zelda. This WILL BE the FIRST retail title that I pick up for the Wii.Apparently Mario Galaxy won’t be hitting store shelves well into 2007, so I suppose we’ll have to wait a bit longer to get our next-generation Mario fix. However! You will be able to get your Call of Duty fix, with Call of Duty 3 on the Wii!
Call of Duty 3 will be one of the few launch titles with the Wii.Taking full advantage of the motion censor controller with some fun little twists.Much like I talked about before with Link’s bow and arrow. To aim in Call of Duty 3, you’ll have to bring up the remote and nunchuk to aim, and line them up.Bringing the battle to life, with real life aiming and actions. My favorite has to be the Grenade toss.Push ‘A’, and simulate throwing the grenade with the remote and watch that baby fly!Its a great feeling to sling your arm and see a frag plop right next to an unsuspecting German trooper.

In addition to the weapon handling, there will be plenty of opportunity to use the Wii controller for vehicle controls. Whether its crossing a river in a row boat, where you have to use the controller to row, or driving a tank through a fierce armored battle, you’ve got everything you need with the Wii remote.
CVG did a great hands-on write up about their experience with the Wii version of Call of Duty 3 also, check it out here.
In conclusion:
I’m stoked. I’ll be getting this at some point in the very near future and plan on spending endless hours on both old favorites, and new innovations from the classic series that got me hooked on Video Games oh so long ago.
Anyone interested in coming over and throwing down a Wii challenge, by all means, the gauntlet has been set!
Its on!

Last night, 24 players who won the ‘First To Play COD3′ tournament were flown out to Santa Monica, CA.We caught a bite to eat last night, and this morning headed over to Activision / Treyarch HQ to give them the chance to be the very first community members to get their hands on Call of Duty 3!We played through some single player [The Island] and then jumped straight into some 24 player multiplayer action! There were some awesome highlights and great moments during the online choas as well as some new features discoverd by the community members. We played through two multiplayer maps, and served it up in two different gametypes: War and CTF.During WAR, both teams are fighting over five [5] different areas designated by a while flag. Once the area is taken over, the flag will change to that of the team who is currently holding it.The battles were intense, and served up some awesome moments. As people got their strategies together, and started using every aspect of the game to their advantage. Grabbing some team mates to pile into a jeep, and head to the new objective, while the .50 cal gunner supplied supressive fire on any advancing enemies. It was awesome.Capture the Flag was even more intense!I officially love the ‘Support’ class! Nothing is better than hauling around a MG34, going prone, and setting it up when I see the Allies advancing, waiting for them to turn the corner, and mowing them down! Hoorah! The map we played had an awesome bridge linking the two sides of a dried up gully. The bridge was destroyed in the middle, seperating the two sides, but allowed a fast enough runner, or a fast enough vehicle to ramp the gap.The bridge had two levels, the upper level in the open, and an inner level which was a tunnel inside the bridge.Call of Duty 3 brings back a classic feature of ‘Sprinting’ into multiplayer. Allowing the player an extra bust of speed to haul ass to a new cover point. The sprint is limited, but saves your life in a tight squeeze. The layouts of the maps allow for endless different strategies, one which didn’t work out for either team was the attempt for both to ramp the gap in the bridge at the same time. lolBoth teams piled into their jeeps, 3 men per vehicle and headed across the bridge on either side. They both met in the center, ramped into the air, opened fire on each other and slammed headfirst in mid-air! Leaving a debris of bodies, metal, and choas! It was priceless!Meanwhile, I jumped into the sidecar of a motorcycle, mounted my MG34 on the side. Allowing me to mow down any attacking enemy while the driver manuevered us into the base while avoiding sniper fire.Regretfully, once I arrived at their flag, I didn’t realized it had been booby-trapped with anti-personnel minds. Sending me quickly flying through the air and to the ground. I wasn’t dead, but critically wounded. So I called up the medic to revive me, so I could get back in the fight. Regretfully, he was taken out before he could arrive, and I didn’t last much longer. There were some impressive moments, when we were attempting to take the flag, and their scout called in an airstrike. Sending shells of artillery down on our position and slaughtering us all! Call of Duty 3 also introduces a Class and ranking system, rewarding players for different tasks such as, capturing the flag, holding a position, assisting a flag carry, and a hundred of other tasks. Ranking you up during each match and promoting you. Each level having their advantages. There are six different classes, including:RiflemanLight AssaultHeavy AssaultMedicScoutSupportAnti-ArmorEach have their own set of weapons, and special abilities. Such as Light and Heavy Assault have anti-personnel mines they can set in the ground. Scouts can call in Artillery every 3 minutes, Medics can revive wounded teammates back to health, Support and Anti-Armor can drop ammo for team mates, and Rifleman have Rifle Grenades which attach to the front of your rifle and are shot up and forward. The addition of vehicles changes the entire dynamic of gameplay, leaving you in some hairy situations and allowing some unique and intense battles. At one point, the axis were invading our base from all sides. Infantry was moving up through the gully, a jeep with a .50 cal coming from the west, and a tank taking the road to the east.A little quick thinking and smooth maneuvering, allowed me to get up behind the advancing tank without being noticed. I quickly ran up behind the tank, climbed up on top, threw open the hatch, and threw down some frags.Leaping off the tank just as it blows out from the inside, disabling the tank. One down!It was great to meet some of the awesome Call of Duty community face to face. Many of them I’ve went up against in Call of Duty 2 many of time. They all put up a great game, especially Big Wooly and Ace 20. They served up some serious ownage the entire time they were there! Some other nice tidbits were announced about the game, including the ability to bring Guests on Xbox Live with you. Up to 3 guests, making it a total of 4 players per consoles. Thats for Live and local play split-screen. Ooohhh yeah baby!I’m sure the players who were there have plenty more to share, check out the Xbox.com Forums for more discussion on the event. After that, we headed over to Treyarch for a little Q & A with the MP team so the community could ask whatever was on their mind. Shortly after, they picked up a nice gift bag including some COD3 swag, 30G Video iPod, and more.It was a great day with some awesome multiplayer!
